Singular German Pinot - Extreme Weightlessness:
2015 Enderle & Moll Pinot Noir Buntsandstein

Posted by Joe Salamone

Enderle & Moll clearly have the magic touch when it comes to Pinot Noir.

They are making some of the greatest expressions of the grape in Germany.

In terms of German Pinot Noir, there's simply nothing to compare them to. There's a singular finesse and weightless intensity. Above all, there's a subtle depth to the wines that offers endless fascination.

As each year passes, their top wines get allocated in smaller and smaller quantities. Often, we're talking about allocations in bottles, not cases.

Buntsandstein is Enderle & Moll's single vineyard wine that always seems to jump out at tastings. It's a red sandstone site with vines over sixty years of age. Buntsandstein delivers the most spice and power of any Enderle & Moll Pinot. It also has tremendous lift and vivacity. The 2015 Buntsandstein is a particularly textural vintage for the wine. There's a beautifully silky mouth-feel with outrageous purity and a dazzling mineral core.

Everything is hands-on. Sven Enderle and Florian Moll basically do everything themselves. The grapes go into an old basket press and then into older Burgundy barrels. They're incredibly conscientious in the vineyard, following biodynamic principles.

Enderle and Moll only have 5ha and a cult status. It's a safe bet that this will sell out quickly. Please give us your ideal order and we'll try our best.
