Since discovering the wines a few years ago, Trousselle has been our go-to producer for everyday Burgundy.
The quality that he turns out for the price is beyond astonishing.
At as low as $18.95 per bottle, today's offer is one of the curiosities of Trousselle's line-up, and a bottle that we reach for often.
Trousselle's Coteaux Bourguignons Rouge is entirely Gamay grown on Burgundian soils and presents the grape with a different flavor profile than what you typically encounter in Beaujolais. Here the grape boasts its earthier dimensions with a soil inflected savoriness. The wine also has plenty of textural appeal with its silky tannins.
It's this combination of value and drinkability that has made the Coteaux Bourguignons so popular. This is a wine that you'll reach for often. It's very versatile on the table and it drinks beautifully on its own.
Trousselle is an extremely skilled viticulturist, and he works his vines with painstaking care. He’s also well respected in the region. In fact, he’s currently working with Pierre Boisson of Boisson-Vadot on a project in the Hautes Cotes de Beaune and he will be in charge of all of the farming.
It's rare that we get to offer anything from Burgundy at this price point. We bought every bottle that we could. Still, it's easy to imagine this offer selling out in a flash.
