D'Angerville's Caillerets is Volnay at its most painstakingly precise.
It's also one of the hardest to find in quantity.
For a good number of Burgundy experts, Caillerets is one of the best sites in Volnay. Many believe that if Volnay were to have Grand Crus, Caillerets would be at the top of the list.
D'Angerville has a mere 0.65ha in Caillerets. It's easy to imagine that d'Angerville's Caillerets is scarce. In 2015, availability is simply a bad scene.
D’Angerville has supplied me with some of my most memorable bottles of old Burgundy and it was important for me to lock down as much 2015 as possible. It was a rough process and, in the end, I had accumulated a modest amount. Hopefully, it's enough for a Monday offering to a small group of Burgundy buyers.
The 1er Cru Caillerets is likely the most supremely elegant and mineral wine of Volnay. It does not lack in intensity or length, but delivers these with a subtlety and a gorgeous slow-to-unfold complexity.
In the ripeness and concentration of the 2015 vintage, Caillerets really shines. The tension and mineral fineness of the site married beautifully with the vintage. The sum effect is an incredibly long, detailed and lifted edition of the wine. It's difficult not to be wowed by the wine's energy, aromatic complexity and overall transparency.
Given Caillerets’ track record for aging, I have no doubt this will be fascinating to watch evolve. Please give us your ideal order and we'll try our best.

Burghound: "A beautifully nuanced nose reflects notes of both red and dark raspberries along with anise, cinnamon and lilac. The middle weight flavors are finer and more mineral-driven if somewhat less concentrated while delivering outstanding length on the stylish and classy finale. Terrific."
