"The 2015 is utterly captivating." - Lowest Price:
2015 Antinori Tignanello

Posted by Ian McFadden

Since its first vintage in 1971, Tignanello has turned out no shortage of stunning wines. No matter how you cut it, the 2015 stands out as one of the greats.

Tignanello is a Tuscan icon, and I'm happy to offer the wine at its best at the lowest price around, $118.95.

"The 2015 is one of the finest Tignanellos in recent memory," writes Antonio Galloni. The 2015 possesses incredible finesse and aromatic complexity. The combination of class and energy is really impressive.

Tignanello was the second entry, after Sassicaia, to the "super-Tuscan" category. The winery is situated in the Chianti Classico zone and is based largely on Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. (The 2015 is based on 85% Sangiovese and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon.) Aided by the advice of famed Bordeaux oenologist, Émile Peynaud, Piero Antinori pursued similar methods as the greatest wines of the world. In short, a legend was born.

Tignanello has a great track record for aging. The 2015 has the vibrancy, balance, and overall composition to evolve beautifully. It's rare that we offer Tignanello, but when the pricing and the sheer quality of the 2015 are factored in, there was no question that it deserved a moment in the spotlight.

Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media: "Once again, the 2015 Tignanello is stunning. Sweet, floral notes give the 2015 striking aromatic intensity to play off a core of red Sangiovese fruit. In 2015, the Sangiovese is a bit higher than the norm, which comes through in the wine's flavor profile. The tannins are also a bit biting at this stage, but that won't be an issue in time. Bright red cherry, plum, blood orange mint and sweet floral notes build into a finish laced with energy and tension. The 2015 is utterly captivating. That's all there is to it."
