The 2008 Grand Vintage is dynamite, and dare I say the greatest vintage Moet ever produced?
I'm very excited to offer magnums of the 2008 Moet Grand Vintage for $187.95.
Just to underscore the rarity, I'll mention that it's only available at one other retailer in the US.
Since the 2002 vintage, I've watched the quality of Moet's Grand Vintage soar. Under the aegis of Chef de Caves Benoît Gouez, GV has reached a level of quality that rivals and even exceeds examples from the 1960s and 1970s, many of which remain brilliant to this day.
It is now firmly established that the 2008 vintage is historically special, and this confluence (vintage, winemaking and magnum format for under $200) has elevated this Grand Vintage offering to another level. It's just stunning. The vintage has endowed the wine with a remarkable vibrancy that is reminiscent of its MH big brother Dom Pérignon.
When it comes to Champagne, magnums are king. They provide the ideal ratio of oxygen to wine, allowing the wine to age beautifully. While the 2008s are now entering a "suitable drinking" maturity level, they will continue to evolve for several decades.
The 2008 Grand Vintage is at the height of its powers. Drink now, but make sure you lay a few down, the rewards will be huge.
