The Other Side Of Coche - 0.5Ha:
2014 Coche-Dury Auxey-Duresses Rouge

Posted by Ian McFadden

"Given their consistently superb quality, Coche-Dury red wines may well be the ultimate 'insider’s wines' in all of Burgundy." -John Gilman

Coche's reds are monumental Burgundies. Like the whites, they are very concentrated, show great detail and a riveting clarity of expression.

The reds age amazingly well on their density and balance. Last year, we opened a '93 Bourgogne Rouge that was seriously impressive. A few years back, a 1992 Coche-Dury Auxey-Duresses Rouge, an off-vintage that's not known for red was gorgeous and still full of life.

The reds seem to defy logic.

Coche's Auxey-Duresses Rouge is sourced from 0.5ha. Its signature is a round and very suave texture with an intense underlying structure. This is a wine of mineral impact and brilliant lift.

The 2014 Auxey is an incredibly clear and bright example of the wine. There's impressive focus, persistence and elegance. You get an absolutely thrilling and finely etched core of minerality.

I'm going to wrap this up. I'll just warn you that quantities are extremely limited. The tiny quantities that are produced keep word from spreading too far about Coche's reds, but those who know tend to jump at the chance to buy them.
