2021 Comtes Lafon Meursault 1er Cru Les Porusots

Lafon's 2021s are simply dynamite.

They are finely etched and tension-filled with ample power and depth. In short, they are a dream brew.

This is a domaine with many decades at the pinnacle of white Burgundy production. Still, these days it's very clear that Lafon is at the top of their game. These are some of my favorite white Burgundies.

The 1er Cru Porusots is an east-facing vineyard with deep clay soils. The site produces lavish, layered, and deeply structured wines. Lafon endows this site with serious muscularity.

Lafon's 2021 is a wine of dazzling force and verve. The intricacy of its architecture is amazing. It's rare to find a wine working on this breadth and scale that's this poised, detailed, and lifted.

I'll wrap this up. It's clear that many Burgundy buyers are aware that few domaines are working at the level that Lafon currently is. Don't miss this.

Burghound: "A discreet application of wood sets off the elegant array of white peach, floral, lemon zest and fennel scents. Once again there is excellent richness and volume to the focused and relatively powerful medium-bodied flavors that exhibit a fine bead of minerality that adds lift to the beautifully long finale that already offers excellent depth. This is classic Porusots in that it's very much built-to-age so at least moderate patience strongly recommended."
