This is one of the easiest purchases we’ve ever made.
In recent vintages, Oddero's wines have really entered the zone. Their basic Barolo is easily one of the greatest values the region has to offer.
It's not surprising that our "Back Up Truck" offer of the 2013 was one of our most popular of 2018, especially when the repeat purchases are factored in.
Oddero's 2015 Barolo shows the vintage at its best. Its clarity, weightless texture and incredible length elevate this wine to a class far beyond what its humble price tag might suggest. You have the total package of serious structure, well-integrated tannins, and complex aromatics.
This Barolo comes from three different crus, two in La Morra (Bricco Chiesa & Capalot) and one in Castiglione Falletto (Bricco Fiasco). The wine is aged for 30 months in large Austrian and Slavonian oak casks.
Oddero has been making Barolos for over 200 years. I strongly suggest that you check out Levi Dalton's I'll Drink To That! interview with Isabella Oddero for a very in-depth history of the estate and a better understanding of Oddero in general.
Oddero isn’t exactly under-the-radar; given their quality-to-price ratio, it’s impossible for these wines to be ignored. But, fortunately for us, the prices haven’t caught up to the domaine’s popularity—but it will. Now’s the perfect time to stock up.
