Stella di Campalto’s wines are a study in elegance and grace.
They are known for their light, ephemeral quality that couples so beautifully, if unexpectedly, with intensity and verve.
The 2014 vintage turned out to be a wonderful complement to the house’s style. Cool weather translated to crisp-fruited, floral wines and Stella di Campalto, highlighting these qualities, produced some of the most graceful and refined wines of the vintage.
Today, we’re happy to offer Stella di Campalto’s 2014 Rosso di Montalcino, one of our favorite wines of the lineup. This wine perfectly illustrates the qualities we love about this domaine. It’s virtually weightless and breathtakingly elegant. As Wine Advocate writes, “this vintage takes that elegance to a new level,” and we fully agree.
The 2014 Rosso di Montalcino is so light and airy that Stella di Campalto gave the wine a nickname: "vino non vino" or “wine that is not a wine.” The name references the weightless texture, but the wine has a deep intensity and lively energy. The combination is magical.
Stella di Campalto is a relatively young winemaker. She burst onto the scene with the impressive debut of her 2004 Brunello. The crystal clear, elegant style immediately garnered a cult following.
Stella di Campalto’s wines are always hard to come by, but with reduced yields in 2014, this is even more so. We expect our modest parcel will disappear quickly.
