"Tremendous depth and pure class.”
- 2008 Philipponnat Clos des Goisses Juste Rosé

Clos des Goisses is widely considered one of the greatest vineyards in Champagne.

It's been produced since 1935. The terroir is so extraordinary that it rarely missed a vintage over the years. In 1999, the first rosé was released from Clos des Goisses. It immediately became one of the region's most sought after wines.

Finding the Clos des Goisses Rosé in quantity has been so difficult that we have never managed to have enough for an offer. That changes with the 2008 vintage, and it couldn't have happened at a better time.

The 2008 Clos des Goisses Juste Rosé represents a high-water mark for the wine.

Along with 2002, 2008 is one of the best Champagne vintages of the last few decades. If 2002 is defined by a high level of ripeness and muscle, 2008 is about purity, harmony and an energetic structure. We love the total package.

The fully walled Clos des Goisses vineyard is one of the steepest and warmest sites in Champagne. All 5.5 hectares are fully south-facing and overlook the Marne river. The pure chalk slopes are as steep as 45 degrees. This aspect makes it considerably warmer than its neighbors and even in cool years it always achieves full ripeness.

Antonio Galloni sums up our thoughts when he writes, “The 2008 finishes with tremendous depth and pure class.” This wine is all about chalk imbued power and aristocratic breeding. It has a racy finesse combined with the saturating mineral-laden grandeur of Clos des Goisses.

There's never enough of Clos des Goisses Rosé to go around, and in 2008, we expect things to be very ugly. We advise you not to hesitate.
