"What a wine!"
2002 Dom Pérignon Rosé

"A tremendous example of this vintage at its very best... What a wine!" -Antonio Galloni

When we first offered the wine in 2012, the subject was: "The Greatest DP Rosé Ever?"

At this point, it's clear that the 2002 Dom Pérignon Rosé will go down as one of the absolute greats of all time.

This is a Rosé that stands toe to toe with the legends of 1990 and 1996. Still, the 2002 seems to have that indescribable extra dimension that gives it an edge.

Over the years, I've been able to check in frequently on the 2002 and each time it's been a mindblowing bottle. It represents the pinnacle of a great vintage.

It is absolutely seductive in its power and poise. It explodes from the glass with extremely clear layered red fruits, roses, spice, and minerality. The wine boasts a deep complexity and ridiculous drive and power. Above all, the finesse, refinement and beguiling texture is profoundly impressive.

Dom Pérignon's Rosé hovers in a mysterious place between sparkling white wine and red Burgundy. The classic line is to call it "Musigny with bubbles". The comparison certainly gives you a good sense of how saturating, regal, and compelling it is.

As Dom Pérignon Rosé ages, it gains a crazy amount of complexity and elegance. The 2002 has a long and really impressive future ahead of it. It's simply a historic vintage for the wine.

Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media: "The 2002 Dom Pérignon Rosé is a tremendous example of this vintage at its very best. A Champagne of vertical thrust and intensity, the 2002 is rich, opulent and hedonistic from the very first taste. Readers should expect a Rosé built on a huge core of fruit. Rose petal, passion fruit and exotic flowers add shades of dimension to the wine’s decidedly flamboyant personality. What a wine!"
