Wine of the Year Revisited:
2022 Mugneret-Gibourg Vosne-Romanée

Posted by Ian McFadden

Last December, Crush managing partner Bobby Schagrin named 2022 Mugneret-Gibourg Vosne-Romanée his wine of the year.

Bobby had many reasons for the selection, but the distilled-down version is as follows:

"Over the last twenty years, no other producer has made more consistently great wines vintage to vintage than Mugneret-Gibourg. In 2022, the wines of this domaine are incredible. There’s an extra dimension of depth and breadth to these wines from the top to the bottom of the range.

The Mugneret sisters have an amazing ability to capture the suave and exotically spiced nature of Vosne. The texture of the wines is sumptuous and simply irresistible. The 2022 Vosne has a dream combination of verve and generosity along with the requisite structure to age beautifully. It all adds up to a dynamite bottle."

I recently checked in on this bottle, and it was amazing. There is a really lovely elegance to the wine. Layers of spice, floral notes, and earthy undertones mingle. The beautifully suave texture of Mugneret-Gibourg is definitely on display.

The wines of Mugneret-Gibourg are among a handful of red Burgundies that I reach for most often. They never fail to delight. The 2022 Vosne shows this domaine firing on all cylinders. Nice pick, Bobby.
