Without Peer: 2008 Roumier Chambolle-Musigny

Posted by Ian McFadden

"Well-detailed, pure and very Chambolle"

I'm going to keep this short. It's rare that I see back-vintage Roumier Chambolle in any sort of quantity.

For me, Roumier's Chambolle is the greatest villages wine in all of Burgundy. When it comes to aging, Roumier's Chambolle astonishes.

I once witnessed a buyer at auction put down $1,200 for a bottle of the 1971.

It's a pretty easy wager that the 2008 will age beautifully. The 2008 Red Burgundy vintage delivered outrageous purity of fruit, taut minerality and specificity of terroir.

In any vintage, I love how classically Chambolle Roumier's is. In 2008, this is accentuated to an incredible degree. The wine has a riveting elegance, precision and silky texture.

Every year, I put just as much effort into tracking down Roumier's Chambolle AC as I do his top Grand Crus. That's how sought-after it is. When it comes to older vintages, the rarity factor gets kicked up even more. I'm very happy to offer this today. Please give your ideal order and we'll try our best.

Burghound: "A high-toned, perfumed and very fresh red pinot fruit nose introduces precise medium-bodied flavors that are well-detailed, pure and very Chambolle in basic character and offer a discreet touch of minerality on the supple but solidly complex finish. A lovely, forward and understated villages."
