I don't know of a Barbera available that offers as much complexity or pays dividends in the cellar like Conterno's.

What separates Conterno's Barbera from the pack is its layered power and its simultaneous buoyancy. The combination is amazing, especially after 5-10 years in the cellar.

Conterno's 2021 Barbera Francia certainly is stunning. Along with its signature density and explosive mid-palate rich complexity, there's a verve-driven finesse. The combination of resonant depth and lift is really compelling.Â
