Canonica turns out some of the most captivating and soulful Barolos around.
Their purity and their textural complexity is mind-blowing.
The only downside is that Canonica’s holdings are tiny. Every time we offer Canonica's Barolo Paiagallo, it disappears quickly. Currently, there are no listings for Canonica's 2014 Paiagallo in the U.S.
Canonica’s Barolo Paiagallo comes from a mere 1.8ha vineyard. Canonica’s methods are super-traditional: minimal sulfur, foot-pressed grapes, indigenous yeasts, and aging in old oak botti. Even the labels are applied by hand. All of this results in one of the most authentic and compelling wines in all of Piedmont.
The 2014 vintage was a tricky one in Piedmont. Frost and rain at the beginning of the growing season were a headache for producers. Thankfully, September was gorgeous. There's no doubt that it was a mixed vintage, but there are some really beautiful wines. Canonica's is among them. The 2014 Paiagallo possesses an amazing harmony and clarity. There's lift and a silky texture that's really appealing.
As we mentioned before, Canonica's Paiagallo is very limited. We're only offering this to a small group of Barolo supporters. Please give us your ideal order and we'll try our best.
