"Brovia is on fire"
2013 Brovia Barolo

Posted by Joe Salamone

Within the top ranks of Barolo, it's difficult to compete with Brovia in terms of value.

The estate is at the top of their game. You don't have to look any further for evidence than their 2013 Barolo.

We offer Brovia's single vineyard Barolos every vintage, but in 2013 the basic Barolo is a showstopper.

It's no surprise that the 2013 vintage elevated the wine. 2013 is a dead serious vintage in Piedmont. The easy comparisons are 2010 and 2008, two of our favorite recent vintages. The 2013 vintage in Piedmont is all about finesse and clarity.

The Brovia style isn't shy on power, but what makes the wines so impressive is their finesse and nuance. They lead with red fruits, but the backdrop is a kaleidoscopic mix of earth, herbs and flowers.

The 2013 basic Barolo possesses incredible balance and class. It's a blend of younger vines throughout Brovia's impressive Cru holdings. There's a shocking clarity of expression to the minerality, herbs, floral notes and spice.

In the past handful of vintages, Brovia has emerged as one of the elite estates of Barolo. As Antonio Galloni wrote a few years ago, "Brovia is on fire." For us, there are very few addresses in Barolo where your money is so wisely spent. The 2013 Barolo drives this home.
