Jean-Louis Dutraive has quickly emerged as one of Beaujolais' best and most sought-after producers.

Tasting the wines, it's very easy to see what all of the excitement is about. The wines are seductive in their clarity, soil-inflected depth and sheer joyful drinkability.

Carolon is a steep, high-altitude vineyard in the northwest corner of the Fleurie appellation. As in 2016, Dutraive was hit hard with hail in 2017 and due to the tiny yields, he purchased fruit.

Dutraive's 2017 Fleurie Carolon has a beautiful delicacy with a stony minerality and nuanced dark fruits that define their Fleuries. This wine delivers an incredible amount of enjoyment with its suave texture. There's a great precision to the minerality and for all of its verve, a nice sneaking depth.
