On nearly a weekly basis, I'm blown away by a bottle of Lafon.
I can't think of another white Burgundy producer who hits high points so consistently. They've made great white Burgundies for. quite some time, but for over a decade this domaine has been in peak form.

Today, I'm happy to pay homage to the incredible wines that this domaine is producing, both white and red.
It's well known that Lafon's village bottlings transcend the category by a wide margin. I included 2014 & 2022 Meursault Clos de la Barre as examples of how profoundly this bottle punches above its weight class.
The 1er Cru Les Charmes, Genevrières, and Les Porusots are simply great examples of each site. The 1er Cru Perrières and Grand Cru Montrachet are some of the greatest expressions of Chardonnay on the planet.
Lafon's whites get so much attention that most people overlook his work with red wine. Along with d'Angerville and Lafarge, Lafon makes some of the top examples of Volnay. His Santenots is one of the great wines of Volnay. My full initiation into the magic of Lafon's Santenots was a bottle of '78 a few years ago. It was a brilliant bottle.
