The wine world has become obsessed with Rinaldi's soulful, finessed, and old school style.
It's become nearly impossible to find the wines in quantity. Today, I'm happy to offer the 2018 Langhe Nebbiolo, one of the hardest wines in the lineup to find.
I have to underscore the rarity - there are a total of five listings of any vintage of Rinaldi's Nebbiolo. I should also let you know that this parcel will disappear quickly.
The estate is one of the famous traditionalists of Piedmont. Everything that the Rinaldi family touches seems to be given a level of seriousness, sternness, and complexity. It's clear that no concessions are made. Every grape seems to be endowed with a quiet profundity that separates them from the pack.
The Langhe Nebbiolo is incredibly subtle and pure in its floral and mineral expression. The Nebbiolo is sourced from sandier soils in Barolo's Ravera. To make a more delicate and open expression of Nebbiolo than the estate's Barolos, the Langhe Nebbiolo receives a much shorter maceration and sees a lot less time in barrel. The result is a gorgeous weave of flowers, fruit, spice, and earth with a whispering complexity.
The 2018 is a deep and more textured example of the wine. You get an extra layer of soil inflected dried cherry fruit. It has a nice silken texture with a lovely sense of energy and lift.
In September of 2018, Giuseppe Rinaldi sadly passed away. His wife and daughters, who took over day-to-day operations back in 2013, continue to lead the estate in the same steadfastly traditional way Giuseppe was known for.
Being able to offer the Langhe Nebbiolo is a real luxury. It's the first time that we've had enough quantity to offer the wine on its own. I'm expecting a very quick sell-out. Please give us your ideal order, and we'll try our best.
