Monprivato is a singular expression of Nebbiolo. Its elegance, clarity of expression and purity of fruit, earth and flower make it really stand out. Few wines achieve the finesse that Mascarello coaxes from this top site.

John Gilman has said that Mascarello makes: "Some of the most elegant, refined and brilliant wines in all of Piemonte." The 1999 really delivers in this regard. It's incredibly finessed with beautifully layered and clear complex fruit.

Expect an incredible amount of agility and fascinating levels of nuance. There's gorgeously vivid fruit and floral notes (roses, violets, etc.) with crystalline purity, mingled with spices and complex minerality.

Monprivato's transformation in the cellar is stunning - over decades it grows even more elegant and transparent. The 1999 is just starting to hit its stride.
