Ever since their first vintage in 2010, Colombera & Garella has been a benchmark for the region.

The 2016s are among the best vintages that we've seen from them. We're huge fans of the vintage in general, and the way that it dovetailed with Lessona and Colombera & Garella's style is amazing.

Lessona is a tiny appellation in Northern Piedmont that totals less than 20 hectares. The Nebbiolo grown here is defined by its delicacy, soaring aromatics, and elegance. In short, Lessona produces breathtaking wines in the right hands.

Among the hallmarks of the 2016 vintage are density, purity, and crystal clear aromatics. Add Cristiano Garella’s reductive winemaking style and the 2016 explodes with aromatic complexity while offering stunning precision. The amount of gracefulness and snap that it offers is really compelling.

Garella is the former winemaker at Tenute Sella, Lessona's historic producer, and knows the region inside and out. His good friend Giacomo Colombera comes from a winemaking family that’s been in the region since the 1990s. With the help of Giacomo’s family, they work in Bramaterra, Coste della Sesia, and Lessona.

We've been fans of Colombera & Garella since the very beginning, but the 2016 Lessona is special. The winemaking at the estate is top-notch, and with 2016 providing the perfect vintage, it shows just how impressive the wines can be.
