Chambolle Benchmark: 2017 Barthod Chambolle-Musigny

I've been on a Chambolle kick lately, and frankly, I feel no need to stop. The village makes some of the most beautiful expressions of red Burgundy. Today, I'm happy to offer Barthod's 2017 Chambolle. It's been quite some time since we've been able to offer Barthod, and it feels like a real luxury to be able to offer them today.

Château-Chalon is one of the great and utterly fascinating wines of the world. Macle is the long-standing benchmark of the appellation. Sadly, Macle's reputation in Europe makes finding the wines in the U.S. extremely difficult. For quite some time, Crush has been one of the few places in the country where you can find the wines.

Allemand Cornas: 2017 Chaillot & Reynards

I'll keep this short. Allemand's reputation is too big, and the quantities are too small to drag this out. Allemand's wines are very special. It's hard not to agree with Vinous Media's Josh Raynolds when he writes: "let me state unequivocally that there is no estate in the entire Rhône Valley making finer wines."

Roagna's 2014 Barbaresco Paje VV may very well represent the pinnacle of their stunning 2014 collection. It's impossible not to dwell on Galloni's quote above. It gets to the core of things. The Pajè VV is haunting. I'm very happy to have a second opportunity to offer this wine.
