About This Wine

Allemand produces singular expressions of Syrah. No one else renders the grape with such purity, precision, and finesse. Cornas is typically inky and bone-crushing. In contrast, Allemand's Cornas is agile and has a luminous clarity of expression.

We're big fans of the 1998 vintage in the Northern Rhône. It's an utterly classic year that's defined by its formidable structure, savory depth, and soaring aromatics. Allemand's 1998 has an intense and rigorous architecture. There's a wild profile with dark berry fruit, smoke, and a seriously complex presentation of spices and florality. There's sternness here that one doesn't find in today's vintages.

Allemand is one of the most gifted and thoughtful winemakers we know. They are simply really exciting wines.
