Bartolo Mascarello’s Barolos are some of the most compelling and soulful wines in the world.
They are deeply authentic and completely mesmerizing expressions of Nebbiolo. In 2012, all of the purity, precision and refinement that we love in Mascarello's Barolo is gorgeously amplified.
The 2012 Barolos range from graceful and ethereal to rich and powerful. As is often the case, Mascarello's Barolo is one of the standouts of the vintage. The wine teases out a stunning amount of detail, elegance and head-turning aromatics. Antonio Galloni describes the 2012 as “a model of grace and finesse” and “striking in its beauty.”
Since Bartolo’s passing in 2005, his daughter Maria Teresa has fiercely upheld the estate’s super traditional methods. She’s proven to be a worthy successor of her father’s legacy - the wines continue to be some of the most singular and profound in all of Piedmont.
Mascarello’s production is tiny - only around 1,000 cases - and the wines usually disappear quickly. Needless to say, today’s parcel is extremely limited, and unlikely to last long.

2012 Bartolo Mascarello Barolo
Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media: "Freshly cut flowers, mint, raspberry and red stone fruits all lift from the glass in the Maria-Theresa Mascarello's 2012 Barolo. Silky, open-knit and gracious, the 2012 is surprisingly delicious today. This is a decidedly mid-weight, approachable Barolo that is already quite open and delicious. Best of all, the 2012 won't need years to come together. Mascarello fans should buy the 2012 to drink over the near and medium-term, while some of the more structured vintages age in the cellar. A model of grace and finesse, the 2012 is striking in its beauty, even if it clearly doesn't have the depth or multi-dimensional personality of the very best years."
