When this small parcel of 2008 Vietti Brunate mags crossed my desk, I jumped on it.
2008 is a special vintage for the wine, and mags are very rare. There's only one other listing for mags in the U.S.
I love the 2008 Barolos for their clarity of terroir and elegance. Galloni captures all this wonderfully when he writes: "The 2008s are highly transparent to site... this is a super-classic vintage that will thrill readers who like vibrant, refined Baroli."
The 2008 Brunate beautifully captures the clarity, finesse and delicacy of the vintage. And then, it adds a nuanced and deeply complex layer of spice, floral notes and dark fruits.
In short, this is a really gorgeous melding of Vietti's style with the vintage. For all its power and substance, the wine really pops with lift and brightness.
In closing, I should mention that there's not much of this to go around. Please give us your ideal order and we'll do our best.

Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media: "The 2008 Barolo Brunate flows onto the palate with layers of dark fruit, spices, menthol and licorice. It is an unsually plush, generous wine for the year endowed with tons of grace and sheer depth. This is a fabulous, layered Brunate that should drink well with a few more years in the bottle. Layers of sweet, perfumed fruit, rose petals and spices build effortlessly to the gracious, elegant finish. The Brunate is brooding and tannic, but the wine softens a bit with air."
