There are very few of Barolo's top producers whose best bottles go for under $100. Brovia leads this list. And the list doesn't top four or five producers.
The Brovia style isn't shy on power, but what makes the wines so impressive is their finesse and nuance. They lead with red fruits, but the backdrop is a kaleidoscopic mix of earth, herbs and flowers.
Their Brea Vigna Ca’ Mia is one of Brovia's most loved bottlings. It's a bottle with personality to spare. It's rich, powerful, earthy, dark, truffle-y and with a perfectly fascinating rustic side.
Brovia turned out some of the most compelling wines of the 2012 vintage. The Brea Vigna Ca’ Mia is especially fascinating. In his I'll Drink To That! interview, Brovia's Alex Sanchez describes Brea as meaty and mineral, but also capable of an etherealness. The 2012 Brea Vigna Ca’ Mia really shows the agile and elegant side of this site.
For Brea Vigna Ca’ Mia fans, the 2012 is an essential experience. It flaunts just how multifaceted the site is. It's a deep, chewy wine. In 2012, it shows the site's mineral backbone, regal stature and most importantly, its capacity for finesse.
Over the years, we've had many really impressive bottles of Brovia from the 70s and 80s. They have always been deeply soulful Barolos, but what's currently happening at Brovia is profoundly exciting. There are few better values for your cellar.

2012 Barolo Brea Vigna Ca’ Mia
Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media: "The 2012 Barolo Brea Vigna Ca' Mia shows a much more finessed side of this great Serralunga site rather than the power that is much more typical. Rose petal, lavender, mint, sweet red cherries, licorice and dried herbs are laced together in a feminine, gracious Barolo endowed with striking translucence and pure class. Although not especially typical of its site, and a bit light relative to some recent vintages, the 2012 Ca' Mia is stunningly beautiful just the same."
