It probably comes as no surprise that Conterno's 2020s are some of the greatest wines that the vintage has to offer.
Barolo Arione is a legendary vineyard bordering Cascina Francia. Conterno released it for the first time in 2015. One of the best testimonies to its quality is the fact that Conterno often includes a portion of Arione in his epic Monfortino.
The 2020 Arione boasts stunning clarity, delivering power combined with an almost ethereal herb-inflected lift. Antonio Galloni calls attention to the wines' "sublime balance." It's simply gorgeous wine.
Francia is one of Piedmont's great wines. It comes from one of Serralunga’s top sites. The commune is renowned for the density, texture, and heft of its wines. The 2020 Francia has grandeur, and the architecture of the wine can border on stupefying at times. The wine is a total package of force, precision, and finese.
Conterno's 2020 Barolos are almost logic-defying in their profundity. I'm very happy to offer these gorgeous examples of Conterno's singular skill.
