Magic in Meursault:
2017 Pierre Boisson Meursault Grands Charrons

The Boisson family makes Meursault exactly as we like it: intensely mineral, nervy, and with perfectly-judged richness. The Grands Charrons is always one of the high points of the lineup.

White & Red Burgundy: Coche-Dury, Colin-Morey, Lafarge,
Leflaive, Roulot, Roumier & More

With La Paulée officially a day away and festivities well underway, it's difficult for me to focus on anything except Burgundy.

Single Vineyard Splendor:
2013 Chartogne-Taillet Chemin de Reims

Chartogne-Taillet's lineup reaches its pinnacle in the exactingly-rendered single-vineyard bottlings. They dramatize just how sensitive and precise the winemaking is. The Chemin de Reims, first bottled as a single-vineyard champagne in 2011, is an extraordinary example of Chartogne’s skillful winemaking.

Here Today, Gone Tomorrow:
2017 Pierre Boisson Bourgogne Blanc

This is an email that I write with trepidation. In a strong vintage, Boisson's Bourgogne Blanc is a guaranteed sell-out.

“Outstanding complexity” - Burghound
2017 Tribut Chablis 1er Cru Côte de Léchet

If you're after classic, mineral-drenched Chablis, Tribut is one of the most important names to know.

"Superb" - Neil Martin, Vinous Media
2017 Ballot Millot Meursault 1er Cru Perrières

The 1er Cru Perrières is holy ground for Chardonnay. Meursault doesn’t have any Grand Crus, but there’s no doubt that Perrières can rival Grand Crus from other villages.

"Genuinely Great" - Véronique Drouhin
2017 Drouhin Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Mouches Blanc Magnums

Clos des Mouches is a very important site for Drouhin. This prime mid-slope vineyard was one of the first purchases of Maurice Drouhin when he essentially established domaine bottlings in the 1920s.

Don't Miss White Burgundy
2017 Heitz-Lochardet Meursault "Les Gruyaches"

With each vintage, Heitz-Lochardet seems to go from strength to strength. The 2017s are jaw-dropping.

Bobby's Wine of the Year
2017 Colin-Morey Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Abbaye de Morgeot Cuvée Clement et Emma

It’s been a while since I've participated in Crush’s Wine of the Year program. I needed an extraordinary bottle to get me off the sidelines.

2013 Roulot Meursault Villages

Roulot produced simply magical 2013s. Roulot's work with Chardonnay is on another plane. No one renders the grape with such a riveting expression - razor sharp, indisputably noble, and emphatically mineral.

This explosive effort is almost aggressively saline"
2011 Dauvissat Chablis Les Clos

Simply said, Dauvissat's 2011s are stunning. The wines are above all defined by their purity and their minerality.

Roulot in Argentina: 2017 Chacra Mainque Chardonnay

Argentina, the land of Malbec, is the last place that you'd expect to find Roulot's first project outside of Burgundy. Scratch a bit deeper and it becomes much less of a surprise.

"Tightly coiled and chiseled" - 2016 Heitz-Lochardet Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières

It’s rare that a new Burgundy domaine causes us to stop in awe. That’s exactly how we felt tasting Heitz-Lochardet for the first time. These are intense, focused and painstakingly refined white Burgundies. There’s a striking complexity of minerality and racy brightness with layers of citrus and flowers. The combination of depth and poise is extraordinary.

Puligny Benchmark:
2016 Jacques Carillon Puligny-Montrachet

Nearly every time I'm poking around the cellar of a serious Burgundy collector, I come across Carillon's wines right next to luminaries like Coche, Roulot, Ramonet, etc. The wines of Jacques Carillon may keep a lower profile than some others in Burgundy, but they are no joke. You'd be hard pressed to find Burgundies as carefully crafted as Carillon's.

PYCM In Prime Form Revisited:
2015 Colin-Morey Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Abbaye de Morgeot Cuvée Clement et Emma

There may be no one in Chassagne making more compelling wines than Pierre-Yves Colin. His touch with Chassagne is masterful. Colin-Morey is mentioned in the same breath as Coche-Dury and Roulot.

Hierarchies Crumble, Revisited:
2013 Coche-Dury Bourgogne Blanc

There's no getting around it... Coche is special. Even his Bourgogne Blanc works on an elite level. Recently, I was lucky enough to come across a small parcel of the 2013 Bourgogne Blanc. I'm very happy to have the opportunity to offer it again today.

Without Peer
Selosse Ambonnay Le Bout du Clos NV

Selosse is revered for his singular, often mind-blowing Champagnes. His lieux-dits are nothing short of magical. They take the ridiculous resonance, the breadth of complexity and the finesse that are Selosse's calling cards to the extreme.

"Terrific" -Burghound
2010 Dauvissat Chablis 1er Cru La Forest

Dauvissat's 2010s are simply brilliant. The 2010 vintage in Chablis is really impressive. Even in this context, Dauvissat is a standout. They may very likely be the wines of the vintage.

Chablis Rarity
2016 Tribut Chablis 1er Cru Beauroy

Laurent Tribut makes some of the most sought after and under the radar Chablis. For years, Tribut's wines have been an insider's secret, snapped up by collectors before they saw the light of day.

2015 Colin-Morey Chassagne-Montrachet
1er Cru Abbaye de Morgeot Cuvée Clement Emma

Colin-Morey is one of the masters of Chassagne. There may be no one in the villages working more compellingly. Today, I'm happy to offer Colin-Morey's 2015 Abbaye de Morgeot Clement et Emma for $119.95.

Revelatory, Explosive Complexity
2015 Colin-Morey St. Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly Nicholas et Mathis

Pierre-Yves Colin turns out no shortage of wines from Burgundy's greatest sites - Montrachet, Chevalier-Montrachet, Meursault Perrieres, etc. Yet savvy buyers flock toward his St. Aubin bottlings.

Don't Miss - White Burgundy Value
2016 Lamy Bourgogne Blanc Les Chataigners

I'm constantly searching for overachieving white Burgundy. Lamy's 2016 Bourgogne Blanc is an impressive deal.

Very pure and sharply chiseled" - 2015 Tribut Chablis 1er Cru Beauroy

Laurent Tribut produced a dead serious collection in 2015. For the Chablis obsessed, the wines of Laurent Tribut are legendary. The 2015s boldly display what makes Tribut so exciting.

Utterly Brilliant: 2010 Agrapart Mineral Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru

Agrapart's Mineral lives up to its name, bursting with chalky minerality. It is one of the most riveting expressions of Chardonnay to be found.
