2019 Adrien Dhondt Champagne Le Mesnil Sur Oger Les Coullemets

As a collection, they are some of the most impressive champagnes I've tasted this year. With that said, Dhondt's 2019 Le Mesnil Sur Oger Les Coullemets was simply a stand out in relation to anything that I tasted this year.

There's such grace, quiet complexity, and precise length to the 2022. This is one of the wines where it feels like everything falls perfectly into place. It's a beautiful thing to experience.

The Force of Chalk:
2018 Bazin Champagne Blanc de Blancs l'Exigeante

In the great 2018 vintage, these eastern-facing slopes, along with the dense chalk of the Paris Basin, resulted in grapes and wines of profound freshness, and serious drive and lift.

2020 Bachelet Charmes-Chambertin VV

The 2022 Charmes has an explosive complexity of dark fruits, smokey minerals, spice, earth, and floral notes. This is all delivered with incredible precision, finesse, and impact. 

Extreme Purity Revisited:
2021 Colin-Morey St. Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly Nicholas et Mathis

Colin-Morey makes two bottlings from En Remilly. Nicholas et Mathis is the rarer of the two bottlings. It's situated near the Grand Cru site of Chevalier-Montrachet. Compared to Colin-Morey's basic En Remilly, Nicholas et Mathis is deeper and more textural.

Ludes: Special Late Release!

The 2023 is one of the most complete Frühlingsplätzchens in several years. It is expressive, outward, and giving while remaining tensile and gripping. It has everything; Schönleber nailed the vintage.

Bollinger's R.D. bottling is a later release of La Grande Année, their prestige cuvée. R.D. is aged longer on the lees, and this turns up the volume and complexity considerably. 

Cult Loire - Bizot Disciple:
2021 Nicolas Barbou Touraine Oisly Utopie Creative

The 2021 Utopie Creative is absolutely brilliant. Barbou turned the vintage's cool profile and fresh acidity into an absolutely riveting wine. It's both enveloping and sleekly kinetic, with bright, almost red fruit notes, herbs, stone fruits, and a saline core.
