Sonntag Geschlossen:
The Sublime, Whispers of Grüner Veltliner

Today we present a three-vintage vertical of Grüner Veltliners from a reclusive farmer near the Czech border in Austria.

This is only the second time we've ever seen a small allocation of these wines; we believe it's only the second time any wine has been released from this curious cellar.

The Cult Meunier - Sharp Pricing:
2019 Jerome Prevost La Closerie "&"

The 2019 Esperluette has a riveting energy with a saline cut. There are beautiful aromatics of stone fruits and white flowers. Everything is presented with a tension-filled drive.

"Layered and multidimensional"
2020 Guillemot-Michel Viré-Clessé Charleston

The 2020 Charleston is a wine that's structured to age. This is a soaring, powerfully energetic, and concentrated Burgundy.

In Top Form - German Elite:
2022 Schäfer-Fröhlich Stromberg Grosses Gewächs

For over a decade, we held Schäfer-Fröhlich as one of Germany's top talents. The 2022 Stromberg GG is yet another example of the elite level that Tim Fröhlich works at.

Northern Rhône Master:
2015 Chave St-Joseph

The 2015 is a pristine and seamlessly elegant version of Chave's St. Joseph. When you taste it, every component seems to be in place. There's incredible poise, concentration, and length.

Grace and Understatement:
2021 Jouan Morey St. Denis 1er Cru Clos Sorbé

The 2021 Clos Sorbé is a paradigmatic example of the fine-tuned and pensive signature of Jouan's wines. It has pure red fruits with spice, floral notes, and earthy minerality. It has a beautiful elegance and pristine clarity.

Utter Brilliance:
2018 Laherte Champagne Les Longues Voyes Extra Brut

This is a majestic Champagne boasting a salty and chalky core with notes of orchard fruits and sweet herbs. There's a sleek drive and crystal-clear focus to the wine that makes it very compelling.

D'Angerville Rarity:
2019 Bourgogne Rouge

The 2019 offers up a beautiful velvety texture with a raciness that acts as a springboard for notes of spice, earth, and dark fruits. For its level, d'Angerville's 2019 Bourgogne Rouge has class to spare.

2021 Tribut Chablis

When it comes to classic Chablis AC, Tribut is one of the most important names to know. Tribut's Chablis is, without a doubt, one of the best village-level wines in the region.

Dynamite and a Provençal Aristocrat:
2020 Domaine de Trévallon IGP Alpilles

Trévallon flaunts the nobility that France's south can display. In the 2020 vintage, you can witness the fineness, elegance, and harmony that are Trévallon's calling cards. There's a nicely judged wildness to the wine that imbues it with an extra dimension of mystery, soulfulness, and complexity.

"This is an excellent Nuits villages and very much worth your attention."
2020 Chevillon Nuits-St-George Vieilles Vignes

There are few domaines that I respect as much as Chevillon. The NSG VV is one of the village wines that I buy for my cellar every year. The 2020 should not be missed.

Ulli Stein and the Art of the Kabinett (Feinherb and Trocken)

In vintage 2022 this is especially true, as the old vines weathered the dryness of June and July easily. They naturally limited their yields and produced grapes with a dense concentration.

"It is a superb Champagne. I preferred it to the 2008"
2009 Dom Pérignon Rosé

The 2009 Rosé is one of those wines that hits you from so many angles. It explodes from the glass with extremely clear layered red fruits, roses, spice, and minerality.

Extreme Weightlessness Revisited:
2021 Enderle & Moll Pinot Noir Buntsandstein

Since the beginning, Enderle and Moll's house style has been a radiant elegance, an uncanny lightness paired with wildly complex aromatics, great depth, and soil-clarity.

Here Today, Gone Tomorrow:
2021 Envínate Migan Tinto

We've been impressed by their 2021s. The wines possess a beautiful freshness and clarity.

The Magic of Bea:
2018 Bea Montefalco Sagrantino Secco Vigneto Pagliaro

When you catch Bea's Pagliaro firing on all cylinders, it's a magical bottle.

There's a wildness and yet something undeniably noble about the wine.

"It will appeal to Chablis purists"
2021 Bessin-Tremblay Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaume

This is an example of a wine that shouldn't be missed. Bessin-Tremblay's 2021 Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaume is a great example of classic Chablis from one of our favorite producers in the region.

"Captures all the pedigree of this great vintage"
2013 Taittinger Comtes de Champagne

In 2013, Comtes de Champagne has beautiful incisive elegance with loads of silky texture and refinement. The wine is a study in nuance and detail.

Portuguese Revelation:
2020 Niepoort Lagar de Baixo Tinto Bairrada

Along with Colares, the wines of Bairrada are the longest-lived dry wines in all of Portugal. Whether red or white, it's common to see bottles still fresh and captivating at 30 years old.

Full-Throttle Nobility
2019 Brovia Barolo Rocche di Castiglione

Out of Brovia's consistently stunning line-up of single Crus, Rocche is always the stand out.

2020 Levet Côte-Rôtie La Chavaroche

"This bottling is up there with the best wines that I have ever had from this domaine, and I am familiar with their work going back to their 1983 vintage."

Punching Above Its Weight Class
2021 Bachelet-Monnot Chassagne-Montrachet

Bachelet-Monnot's Chassagne AC is a bottle that we reach for often. The 2021 is an especially thrilling vintage of the wine. As Burghound's note below highlights, the 2021 is a seriously structured example of the wine. It is also a tense and electric one.

"Impeccably well-balanced"
2020 Paul Pillot Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos St. Jean

Thierry Pillot has emerged as one of Burgundy's most talented white Burgundy producers.

2022 Lapierre Morgon Magnums

Lapierre is one of the most beloved producers in Beaujolais and this modest parcel of magnums will disappear quickly.
