Chassagne Two-Ways:
Under the Radar Brilliance -
2014 Dancer Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Tête du Clos & 2011 Pillot Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Caillerets

Vincent Dancer and Thierry Pillot are two of the most exciting and thoughtful winemakers of Burgundy. They mostly cruise under the radar.

"Magnificent Energy" - 2010 Vilmart Grand Cellier Rubis Rosé

“Vilmart's 2010 Grand Cellier Rubis is superb.” - Antonio Galloni For us, there's not a genre of wine that's more difficult than Rosé Champagne. And Vilmart is among the very few that nails it every time.

Rare Sighting - Mature White Burgundy:
1982 Potel Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Combettes

Combettes is one of my favorite of Puligny's 1er Crus. And when you combine that with the '82 White Burgundy vintage, I snapped up this parcel quickly. What I love about Combettes is how it combines a tightly wound stony core with a rich, floral accented presence. It also struts the intangible breed that top 1er Cru White Burgundy possesses.

Showstopping:
Ulysse Collin Blanc de Blanc
Les Pierrieres Extra Brut (2012)

Ulysse Collin have always been some of the most singular and compelling Champagnes around. Recently, though, things have clicked into high gear. The past few releases have been showstopping delivering a thrilling, mind-bending complexity.

Only The Essential:
2013 Colin-Morey St. Aubin 1er Cru La Chatenière

Colin-Morey's are the purest and most intense expressions of Chardonnay around. The 2013s brought the domaine's clarity and precision to the next level. When they were first released, I bought every bottle of the 2013 PYCM that I could get my hands on. I jumped at the chance to reload on the St. Aubin Chatenière.

Rethinking Vin Jaune:
2008 Ganevat Chardonnay Cuvée du Pépé

Jean-François Ganevat produces an absolutely dizzying range of wines. With the freedom that such breadth affords him, brilliant and revelatory wines pop up. Cuvée du Pépé is a prime example of this. It's Chardonnay given Vin Jaune treatment - aged for over seven years under flor.

Holy Ground: 2014 Dancer Meursault 1er Cru Perrières

"Dancer's 2014s are among the best wines that I have ever seen from him and they are very much worth your attention." Over the past few vintages we've been watching the quality of Dancer's wines soar. As the Burghound quote above makes clear, they hit the next level in 2014.

Collin Blanc de Blancs Les Roises Extra Brut (2012 Base)

It's impossible not to take notice of Ulysse Collin's Champagnes, especially the recent releases. They can nearly overwhelm the senses with their multi-dimensional complexity that seems to hit you from every angle.

Strikingly Precise:
2007 Carillon Bienvenues-Batard-Montrachet

Carillon's BBM comes from a tiny 0.11ha parcel of low yielding vines. It's one of the rarest White Burgundies, and one of the best.

Weightless Intensity:
2014 Colin-Morey Corton Charlemagne

It's a pretty simple equation. Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey is a huge talent. His 2014's are killer. And Corton-Charlemagne is one of the greatest pieces of earth for the Chardonnay grape.

A flat out brilliant wine - 2008 Dauvissat Les Clos

"A flat out brilliant wine with everything it needs to continue its ascent toward greatness... In sum, Chablis just doesn't get a whole lot better than this." -Burghound This is a special bottle of wine. There's just no way around it.

Dazzling Refinement and Depth:
2014 Colin-Morey St. Aubin En Remilly

Colin-Morey's En Remilly is a very interesting phenomenon. An incredibly wide range of people devote their time to tracking it down. It includes everyone from blue chip collectors to wine geeks and value seekers.

One of the most exciting young growers in Chablis - 2013 Moreau-Naudet Chablis 1er Cru Foret

"One of the most exciting young growers in Chablis" -Burghound Stephen Moreau's family has been making wine since the 17th century, but it was his arrival that put the domaine on the map for Burgundy lovers.

The Razor's Edge: 2014 Dauvissat Chablis 1er Cru Séchet

When you start tasting 2014 Chablis, it becomes clear that it's an epic vintage. The short version is that it combines classicism with mineral-drenched concentration.

Some of the most ground-breaking, intensely captivating wines... - 2014 Pattes-Loup Chablis Vent d'Ange

There's an enormous amount of excitement building for 2014 Chablis. To sum up the vintage quickly, it's very classical, hitting that rare and magical combination of concentration, verve and vivid elegance.

Dazzling Brilliance:
2012 Ganevat Chardonnay Chamois du Paradis

Out of Ganevat's dizzying range of wines, the Chardonnay Chamois du Paradis is one of the more compact and mineral. When you combine this with the 2012 vintage, you get something really exciting.

Agility, Clarity & Value in White Burgundy: 2013 Marc Colin St. Aubin 1er Cru: La Chatenière & En Remilly

We're simply in love with 2013 White Burgundy. Today, we focus on two of the top values of the vintage. Seasoned Burgundy buyers have long sought out St. Aubin for the ridiculous quality-price-ratio it delivers. La Chatenière and En Remilly are two of St. Aubin's great sites.
