For years now, Roagna has been the benchmark producer in Barbaresco and one of the most exciting estates in all of Piedmont. This trio of Roagna's Vecchie Viti magnums are old vine selections and represent some of the greatest that Piedmont has to offer. I'm very happy to offer these magnums, the only ones available in the country.

Chambolle Benchmark: 2017 Barthod Chambolle-Musigny

I've been on a Chambolle kick lately, and frankly, I feel no need to stop. The village makes some of the most beautiful expressions of red Burgundy. Today, I'm happy to offer Barthod's 2017 Chambolle. It's been quite some time since we've been able to offer Barthod, and it feels like a real luxury to be able to offer them today.

The Grand Cru of Vin Jaune:
2011 & 2012 Macle Château-Chalon

Château-Chalon is one of the great and utterly fascinating wines of the world. Macle is the long-standing benchmark of the appellation. Sadly, Macle's reputation in Europe makes finding the wines in the U.S. extremely difficult. For quite some time, Crush has been one of the few places in the country where you can find the wines. 

2017 Gonon Saint-Joseph

The amount of gracefulness that Gonon is able to coax from the hills of Saint-Joseph is extraordinary. It's no wonder that the wines have gone cult.

2017 Bertheau Chambolle-Musigny

Bertheau's are some of the Burgundies that I'm most fond of. They thrive on nuance and understatement. The wines are archetypes of just how graceful and pure Burgundy can be.

Allemand Cornas: 2017 Chaillot & Reynards

I'll keep this short. Allemand's reputation is too big, and the quantities are too small to drag this out. Allemand's wines are very special. It's hard not to agree with Vinous Media's Josh Raynolds when he writes: "let me state unequivocally that there is no estate in the entire Rhône Valley making finer wines."

Rapet makes my style of Burgundy. They are stony and unadorned wines, direct and full of charm.

Roagna's 2014 Barbaresco Paje VV may very well represent the pinnacle of their stunning 2014 collection. It's impossible not to dwell on Galloni's quote above. It gets to the core of things. The Pajè VV is haunting. I'm very happy to have a second opportunity to offer this wine.

It's taken the world some time to catch up with Jean-Claude Marsanne. That's how I began our email on this wine almost two and a half years ago. The first time that I tasted Marsanne, I was stunned and wondered how he managed to keep such a low-profile. 

Rare: 2018 Wasenhaus Pinot Noir Trilogy - Vulkan, Bellen & Möhlin

Wasenhaus is, at the moment, perhaps the most exciting young estate in Germany. It's somewhat extraordinary that Wasenhaus' reputation has grown so large and so quickly. The estate is tiny, little more than a minuscule collection of old-vine parcels farmed by two Germans who met working in Burgundy years ago.
