This is simply a don't miss vintage for Schaefer. Even judged by their superlative track record over many decades, the 2019s are stunning.
Schaefer's 2018s are absolutely stunning. They leap out as among the best examples of the vintage. The Himmelreich GG has blazing minerality with a pristine expression.
Line up the top wines of the world, toss an Egon Müller into the mix and watch people's eyes light up when the Müller comes around the table.
In 2018, Adam turned out one of his most impressive collections of the past decade.
They represent one of the high notes of the 2018 vintage. You would be hard-pressed to find a set of wines that possess as much verve and finely etched minerality.
To state the obvious, the wines of Egon Müller are world-class.
In terms of combining intensity and weightless refinement, Müller is without peer.
Abtserde has the magical ability to take the power of Hubacker and the minerality of Morstein and Kirchspiel and roll them up into a wine of heartbreaking finesse and ungodly length.
It's not at all surprising that Abtserde is one of the hardest wines to track down.
At this point, Keller is recognized as one of the greatest winemakers in the world.
There are many ways to highlight Keller's skills, but perhaps the best is what he achieves with a wine at the price point of Von der Fels.
Typically QbA is a humble category, housing producers' "Estate" wines. They can be nice wines, but seldom are they profound.
Müller's QbA transcends the entire designation. It's without peer.
We wanted to kick off our 2019 German offerings in a big way.
There's no expression of Riesling quite like Müller's Scharzhofberger. It offers intensity without weight; a steely nobility that's breathtaking.
There appears to be no stopping Willi Schaefer. They are a historic benchmark and loved by every Riesling fan that we've met. However, in recent vintages, the quality has really shown just what a world-class estate this is.
"Once again, Konstantin Weiser and Alexandra Künstler underline why they are among the finest growers of the Mosel. " -Mosel Fine Wine Based on their small size and purity-focused winemaking style, many people like to compare their wines to Willi Schaefer’s. Their stunning lineup of rieslings are soulful, delicate, and simply magical.
We're obsessed with Egon Müller's Kabinett. The way that it manages intensity without weight makes it utterly and uniquely compelling. Catching a bottle of Müller's Kabinett in the zone is one of our favorite wine experiences.
Time has only reinforced the quote from Mosel Fine Wines above. Schaefer has been on a tear in recent years. Even in this context, the 2017s seem special. We recently opened a bottle of the Domprobst Spätlese #10, and it was stunning.
Few wines are hunted down as aggressively or are harder to find than Keller's Abtserde. Keller's Abtserde has become a ghost wine. Today's offer underscores this fact. There are no other listings for Keller's 2017 Abtserde in the U.S.
“Sourced from 70+-year-old, ungrafted vines in one of Florian’s coolest Grand Cru parcels, Lauer’s ‘Senior’ is simply one of the great dry Rieslings of Germany.” We wrote the above line in last year’s “Senior” offering, and we believe it now more than ever: This is, without question, one of the greatest values in white wine - Grand Cru in everything but price.
Lauer's 2016 Kupp Spätlese manages a beautiful combination of silky richness and luminous lift.
Stein's 1900 is one of the greatest wines of the Mosel, and no one really knows about it. This is a wine we’ve obsessed over, coveted and collected since the first vintage (2011). It’s a wine we’ve quietly introduced to a few collectors and fanatics, to near-universal amazement.
Müller's 2015s seem poised to become absolute legends. Egon Müller compares his 2015s to his 1990s, which are amazing wines - some of the best of the past few decades. We're excited to offer one of the greatest wines of Müller's 2015 collection, Scharzhofberger Kabinett Alte Reben Auction.
Along with Keller's G-Max, Abtserde is the most sought-after wine in all of Germany. Even beyond Germany, few wines are hunted down as aggressively or are harder to find than Keller's Abtserde. This is currently the only listing for the 2016 Abtserde in the country.
Weiser-Künstler has cemented its place as one of Germany’s greatest estates. At the core of it, the superlative quality of this domaine comes down to great sites and an utter uncompromising stance towards quality.
Two weeks ago, we offered Keller's 2012 Kirchspiel GG. It sold out in a couple of hours. Today, we're happy to present Keller's 2017 Kirchspiel GG. I should warn you from the outset that the 2017 is much less available than the 2012.
“We have never tasted so many great dry Mosel Rieslings in any previous vintage." – Jean Fisch and David Rayer, Mosel Fine Wines
