Foillard Rarity: Only Bottles in The U.S.
2013 Foillard Morgon Classique

For many of us, Foillard is the master of Morgon. It's that simple. Foillard's reputation looms so large that when I set out to write about one of his wines I always feel like it's pointless. There's really not much left to say. As such, I'll keep this short.

At The Top Of His Game:
1999 Chezeaux (Ponsot) Griottes-Chambertin

Whenever I can get my hands on Chezeaux's Griotte (made by Laurent Ponsot), I get really excited. We're fond of introducing this wine as one of Burgundy's great secrets. There's pretty much no better way to sum it up.

Dujac Bourgogne Blanc - Morey St. Denis - MSD 1er Cru Les Monts Luisants Blanc

A few weeks ago, I was absolutely shocked by a bottle of 2006 Dujac Luisants Blanc. It was one of the greatest '06 White Burgs that I've tasted. As usually happens, that bottle sent me on a tasting (and buying) frenzy. My biggest takeaway was that I'd neglected Dujac's whites for far too long. These should not be slept on.

1999, 2002 & 2005 Lafarge Beaune-Greves

These are the only bottles from these vintages available in the country. There's no better way to underscore how rare it is to be able to offer Lafarge with age than this. The quantities are very modest and this is only going out to a select group of Lafarge fans.

2008 & 2011 Lafarge Volnay 1er Crus:
Clos de Château des Ducs & Clos des Chênes

I've always loved Lafarge's wines, but over the past couple of years I've grown obsessed with them. When you drink old bottles of Lafarge, it really cements how profound, soulful and fine they are. They offer some of the most compelling and singular Burgundy experiences that I know.

One of the finest Sancerres of the vintage - 2012 Francois Cotat Monts Damnes

I have to admit it. Cotat's wines had fallen off my radar. Then, I had a bottle of 2000 Les Monts Damnés at a restaurant a month ago. Suddenly, I found myself looking at my storage and kicking myself for not buying more.

Crystal Clear Elegance: 2010 Lafarge Volnay 1er Cru Caillerets

I'm going to keep this short. This is an extremely rare wine from a great vintage. Lafarge has a mere 0.3ha in Caillerets, one of Volnay's top sites. Finding the wine in any quantity is next to impossible.

World Premiere - Special Pricing: Krug 2003

Today I go out on a limb and embrace extremity. In my 25+ year love affair with Krug, I've never encountered an example quite like this. And truthfully, I feel better for embracing it. I've said this before, but I should repeat it in this context: I love all things Krug. And the 2003, despite all its uniqueness, is resoundingly Krug.

Fanfan Two Ways - Ganevat: 2010 Chardonnay Chamois du Paradis & 2011 Poulsard L'Enfant Terrible

The story here is pretty simple: an offer for a small parcel of Ganevat's 2010 Chardonnay Chamois du Paradis & 2011 Poulsard came across my desk and I jumped on it. This offer is only going out to people who've supported Ganevat (known in France as Fanfan), so you're well aware of how rare Ganevat's wines are.

AJ Adam and Malevolence in the Mosel - 2011 Piesporter

The story of vandalism, malevolence and petty ego that led to Adam's Goldtröpchen GG being declassified into a simpler Piesporter Feinherb is hardly worth recounting. Especially as the single parcel that made it through is so pure, so elegant... so good.
